Burj Khalifa
This project gave me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a hand-selected dream team and work on one of the most iconic landmarks in the world.
Standing at a mighty 828m (830m to the tip), the Burj Khalifa is currently the world’s tallest building, and it was conceived to transform Dubai’s skyline and the way the world perceived the region.
As a symbol of the UAE’s millennial shift into an inspiring, world-class destination, the idea ‘History rising’ emerged. My mission was to capture, define and communicate the brand and narrative, and deliver both technical and aesthetic perfection.
John’s Involvement
Working as the brand creative director for ten years on all products and services, I created a 360-degree experience from the world’s first Armani Hotel and Residences (working directly with Mr Armani himself), through to developing the Burj Club.
I also helped internationalise the masterplan developer, Emaar, which included delivering an international sales ‘Discovery Tour’, which positioned the tower and client in front of influential world players for the first time.
Today, the Burj Khalifa brand’s halo effect has significantly increased the price per square foot within Downtown Dubai, and the area surrounding the tower is now known as the most prestigious square kilometre of real estate in the world.
